Pledges

West Town Primary Academy PLEDGES programme is a system that offers pupils a range of character-building opportunities that enhance their learning and development in the following areas: 

Participation – The love of joining in and being a part of something 

Leadership – The responsibility of improving yourself and others 

Excellence – The excitement of achieving your best 

Diversity- The joy of embracing difference 

Giving – The satisfaction of contribution 

Environment- The duty of caring for the world around us 

The PLEDGES link to our school HOWELS- Get Smart, Try Hard, Be Kind- and help pupils to develop and demonstrate our school values.  

Each PLEDGE has activities that can be completed either in school or during out of school time, the majority being free to achieve and requiring a various amount of time commitment.  Each term in school, the children will have a different PLEDGE to focus on and demonstrate with their class. There is also a yearly focus for each year group with suggestions of things to try at home in the ‘things to try by the end of year…’ section. Some of the activities to try at home, also have links to show how to complete the activity. 

We hope that the variety and choice of activities will enable all learners to find something to interest and develop them ensuring that every single child will achieve their potential and leave the school as well rounded, happy and secure individuals, with high self-esteem.
