On Tuesday 7th March, Year One and Two took part in a ‘Great Fire of London’ experience day with ‘Up and at em history’. We were greeted by Jed and Anna, our guides for the day and travelled back to London 1666. First, we met different important figures of the time, such as King Charles II and discussed what London was like over 350 years ago.
The children then took part in two workshops in which they had hands on experience of planning then building houses, writing with ink and quill and dressing up. Next, we had a chance to become a firefighter and worked as a class to pass the buckets down the chain and put out the pretend fires. We especially loved using the squirts, which were the main equipment used in 1666.
We had a wonderful day and enjoyed experiencing life in 1666.
