Carle Class:
We had an amazing time at the farm this week. The sun was shining and the weather was warm which made it even better!
The children were greeted by Jenny from the Country Trust and Farmer George. We had a snack while they talked to us about how to keep ourselves save on the farm.
We then went to see the animals. We saw sheep and their lambs, highland cattle with their enormous horns, which they used for scratching, pigs who were pushing each other out of the way to get to the food, goats and chickens. Farmer George collected the eggs and we helped him put them in boxes before counting all 32 of them! They were lovely and warm.
Being in the open air made us very hungry so after counting the eggs we made our way to the barn where we washed our hands thoroughly before eating our packed lunches. Jenny had some books for us to look at once we had finished. We then went back to the field where we played a game matching the animals to the correct boxes, rode on a tractor, relaxed in the sandpit, or just enjoyed running around in the fresh air.
All too soon it was time to say goodbye and thank Jenny and Farmer George for a wonderful day.
Being in the fresh air all day is very tiring and some of us had a little nap on the way home while other sang to show how much they enjoyed themselves.
Farmer George and Jenny complimented the children on their good listening skills and behaviour and we have been invited back next year!
We would like to thank Miss Shaw and Ms Heaysman for supporting us as additional volunteers.
Rosen Class:
What a brilliant day at the farm we had!
The children got the chance to meet all the animals on the farm as farmer George and Jenny told us information on each of them.
The children enjoyed meeting the pigs as they were quite naughty when it came to eating their food. The children then got to have a hands on experience with the chicken eggs and the lambs! They loved feeling how soft they were.
Finally, after lunch the children played within the farm. There were matching and sorting games, ride tractors, books, lego, and sand pit. The childrens behaviour at the farm was super too, we are very proud of all the children to visited the farm.
