Anglo Saxon with Year 3 & 4

Year 3 and year 4 classes went to Peterborough Museum to learn about the Anglo – Saxons.

We had the opportunity to look closely at finely decorated brooches and take inspiration from them to create our own. We also became archaeologist and excavated different layers down to discover a replica Anglo – Saxon grave. We found that she was buried with all the items she would need in the afterlife.

Finally, we travelled back in time and met an Anglo – Saxon woman, who taught us a bit of old English, showed us the clothes that were worn by men and women, all the objects that they attached to their belts to and other objects that they had such as horn drinking cup.
