Tuesday 14 November 2017
Tuesday morning started with a large breakfast and the children preparing for a trip to Sulehay Forest where they conducted a range of woodland habitats and investigatory activities. During this, the children spent time looking at different species with magnifying glasses, observing badger sets and building shelters for hedgehogs.
After lunch the children spent time dissecting owl pellets and investigating the different bones to understand which species the owls had consumed. The children then used these to create their own bone-cards to take home.
Once the children had eaten a roast dinner they were then given time to complete their shopping list for the souvenir shop, calculating what they could buy with their three pounds and any change – if they hadn’t spent it all!
Many of the children were fast to sleep after a full on two days of exploring and learning.
