Red Nose Day and World Water Day – Friday 24 March 2017
Date(s) - 24th March
On Friday 24 March 2017 West Town will be celebrating Red Nose Day (Comic Relief) and World Water Day (Friends of Nyansakia). To support Comic Relief, children can come to school in their home clothes, and wear something red. This could be something like a red bracelet, hair band, glasses or even an official Red Nose. As the day is World Water Day too, we will be taking part in water investigations and activities throughout the day. These water activities will help us to think about the people in Africa who are supported by Comic Relief and also the families we are able to support as part of our fundraising for The Friends of Nayansakia (who support families in the village of Nayansakia in Kenya).
Part of the work both charities complete is around providing clean water for families and irrigation for crops and this will be our focus in our learning. To support both charities, we will be asking children to donate £2 to wear home clothes and a red accessory and to take part in the water investigations. The money raised will be split between the two charities and the children will be able to learn about the importance of water in our world.
